Robert A. Bruce is an Eastern Jackson County native. He grew up in Lee's Summit and still calls Eastern Jackson home today. He graduated from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law, where he earned his J.D. magna cum laude. While in law school, Robert was a member of the UMKC National Moot Court Team. He was also a Managing Editor for The Urban Lawyer and a teaching assistant for the legal writing and research program. Upon graduating, Robert was inducted into the Order of the Barristers. This organization invites only a limited number of members from a graduating law school class to join, based upon demonstration of high-quality advocacy skills in both writing and oral argument.
Prior to joining Doyle & Associates LLC, Robert worked as a law clerk while pursuing his JD. He began working at a small, plaintiff-side civil rights firm, working to redress discrimination against employees. He also worked for a large defense firm for a summer, but decided to turn down the offer of a big firm job to continue his pursuit of representing everyday people. During his final year of law school, Robert interned with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office as a Rule 13 intern. This allowed Robert to appear in actual courtroom proceedings and submit full, final motions to the court.
In his first year of practicing law, Robert has had the opportunity to second-chair a jury trial, participate in several workers compensation hearings, submit four appellate briefs, and argue before the Missouri Supreme Court. Robert relies on this meaningful experience to zealously represent each of his clients.
When he is not working, Robert enjoys spending time with his wife, Michele. They enjoy traveling to new, exciting places together. Robert and Michele are also active members of their community, attempting to improve Jackson County for future generations. Robert is a lifetime baseball fan and enjoys attempting home improvement projects.
